Driving DC
In general, driving in downtown Washington can be trying and parking sparse. Still, with a
little luck and patience, it's "do-able." You can also use the Park and Ride (see Public Transportation, below).
It is possible drive around the monuments.
Public Transportation
The Washington Metro, Visit WMATA.com, provides great maps and point to point
directions!
Park and Ride From Rockwood to Washington, DC
You can drive to a Park & Ride in Rockville, MD and take the train downtown. This can save lots of time
driving in circles looking for a parking space in downtown DC!
To the Park & Ride - take Falls Rd. (189) North to Rockville. The Park & Ride is located on the
east side of Hungerford Dr. (Rt. 355) near Park Rd.
Take the Red Line towards Glenmont. For the Zoo get off at Woodley Park/Zoo.
For the National Mall, get off at Metro Center, transfer to the Blue/Orange line to New Carrollton/Largo Town Center
and get off at the Smithsonian for the west side of the mall, L'enfant Plaza for the east side.
